Trident Park

Viridor

Trident Park is an energy from waste facility with a capacity to receive 350,000 tpa of residual waste and generate 30 MWe. The facility diverts approximately 95% of South Wales’ residual waste from landfill and produces enough energy to power 50,000 households.

Our key roles during construction, commissioning and hand-over included;

  • Owners Engineer;
  • Full time site attendance.

In addition to our role as Owner’s Engineer, Fichtner carried out a critical review of the Environmental Permit including;

  • Review of the Environmental Permit application and existing Permit;
  • Review the original EIA in so far as it is applicable;
  • Review the key differences between the Environmental Permit application and the as constructed plant;
  • Preparation of the Environmental Permit Variation Application to resolve identified inconsistencies.

With more than 1.6 million man-hours spent on the project between 2012 and 2014, and with only one lost time accident during the entire project; the Trident Park project is rated among the safest construction projects worldwide. The architecture of the plant was chosen so that “the building will appear as a sculpted ingot of aluminium floating above the translucent sea green wave that laps over the rocky base of Welsh slate filled gabions.”
