It has been an exciting first half of 2020 so far for our storage team! We have seen rapidly growing interest in merchant batteries and we have now worked on 750 MW of UK battery storage projects. This includes 350 MW of projects either in operation or under construction. In particular, Fichtner UK is extremely pleased to have the opportunity to work with China Huaneng, Penso Power and G2 Energy on the 100 MW Minety battery storage facility in Wiltshire.

Work on this landmark project began in December 2019, and we are delighted to have been appointed as Engineer under the FIDIC construction contract. When constructed, the project will be the largest battery installation in Europe. Planning permission has now been secured to extend the site by an additional 50MW which will be operational in 2021. Fichtner is extremely proud to be contributing to this milestone project and we look forward to seeing how this further develops in the near future.
