Who are we?
Fichtner is global engineering consultancy established in 1922 with over 2000 employees over 170 countries. Within the UK and Ireland our engineers and consultants are involved in some of the most innovative energy projects across the UK providing design, intellectual, and engineering services to developers, investors, owners, and operators. Projects in development, construction, or operation in the UK and Ireland, include more than:
- 60 major thermal power plants, across the waste, biomass, and conventional power sectors
- 10 GWh of battery storage
- 5 GW of solar
- 7 GW of on-shore and off-shore wind
- 5 GWh of pumped storage hydro projects
- 20 carbon capture projects, aiming to capture and permanently sequestrate more than 5 million tonnes of CO2 per annum
We have over 175 employees that we are proud to have represent us, operating from our offices in Manchester, Belfast, Dublin, and Glasgow and from sites spread across the UK and Ireland.
We are now looking to recruit an experienced Senior Engineer who has a mechanical engineering degree coupled with rotating equipment experience, to be based in our Stockport or Glasgow offices with some travel in the UK, Ireland, and EU.
What we are looking for:
- A good degree in Mechanical Engineering (or close equivalent field)
- Ideally a Chartered Engineer
- Experience with the selection/sizing of rotating equipment such as fans, pumps, compressors, turbomachinery generators and their auxiliary systems
- Experience with QA procedures and Inspection and Test Plans for new or refurbished rotating plant
- Practical experience gained in operation, maintenance, commissioning or construction roles;
- Experience with rotating plant efficiency, reliability, performance monitoring and failure investigations
- Thorough knowledge of the relevant standards
- Awareness of good practises for preservation, planned and preventative maintenance requirements
- Good understanding of process safety principles
- Strong analytical and excellent communication skills
- Have full right to work in the UK; and
- The ability and willingness to travel both in the UK and occasionally overseas
