Capable of processing up to 400,000 tonnes of residual waste, the new EfW facility will have capacity to generate up to 32 megawatts of electricity – enough to power approximately 50,000 homes, equivalent to half the homes in South Gloucestershire.

Fichtner carried out;

  • the preparation and submission of the Environmental Permit for the proposed EfW facility at Avonmouth;
  • air quality assessments to support the EP and planning applications.

Fichtner has provided wide ranging specialist environmental engineering support to SITA on a range of its plants. SITA’s environmental credentials were recognised in 2011 when it became the first recycling and resource management company to feature in the Sunday Times ‘Best Green Companies’ league table.
