This 40MWe electricity only plant takes approximately 277,000 tonnes per annum of waste wood. The site is located close to the Western Wood plant and achieved financial close in January 2015 with an anticipated 28 month construction period. The project is one of the final of its type to be supported under the Renewables Obligation.

As part of our role for the Margam Biomass Project, Fichtner provided;

  • full technical due diligence;
  • up front engineering services contributing to the design of the plant.

The Margam Green Energy Project is the 5th UK biomass project which Fichtner has supported Eco2 as either the Owner’s Engineer or the Lender’s Technical Advisor. In total, the 5 projects now convert more than 1 million tonnes of biomass fuels into renewable energy.
